Japanese H2 domestic scrap prices trend up

On February 19, SteelOrbis reported domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya at JPY 30,600-30,900/mt ($277-280/mt) with shindachi scrap at JPY 35,600-35,800/mt ($322-324/mt), all prices delivered to customer.

According to sources, scrap buying prices in the region has since increased to JPY 31,600-31,900/mt ($284-287/mt) while shindachi scrap also increased to JPY 36,400-36,800/mt ($327-331/mt), all prices delivered to customer. H2 scrap increased $7/mt while shindachi scrap increased $5/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $7/mt from the top of the same range.
