On April 2, SteelOrbis reported domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya at JPY 33,800-34,000/mt ($303-305/mt) for H2 scrap and JPY 38,900-39,200/mt ($349-352/mt) for shindachi scrap, all prices delivered to customer.
Sources inform SteelOrbis that H2 scrap prices have ticked down and are now at JPY 33,600-33,900/mt ($301-304/mt) for H2 scrap and JPY 38,700-39,000/mt ($347-350/mt) for shindachi scrap, all prices delivered to customer. H2 scrap decreased $2/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $1/mt from the top of the same range while shindachi scrap decreased $2/mt overall. A source noted that Tokyo Steel has decreased the scrap purchase prices at its Utsunomiya plant for the third time since late March while also adjusting the scrap buying prices at both the Tahara and Okayama plants downward.
