Italian scrap market in wait-and-see mode

The Italian scrap market is still in wait-and-see mode. Domestic scrap prices have trended sideways in the past week, with the exception of prices for turnings, for which demand is good. Local sources are still expecting price rises during October. "If demand remains as strong as it was in September and if prices rise abroad, especially in Germany, then we will record price increases as well," one local scrap trader commented. Most market sources expect modest price changes, but no one thinks that scrap prices will decrease this month.
