Italian domestic scrap prices trend sideways

Domestic scrap prices in Italy have trended sideways after the slight price reductions that had been recorded in the first days of May. According to market sources, the performance of the market is two-speed: on the one hand, scrap demand from specialty steel producers is still strong, while demand especially from rebar producers is low due to scarce rebar sales. Currently, local sources do not dare to predict the trend of scrap prices for the month of June, though they agree that there should not be major changes.
