Italian domestic scrap prices decrease slightly

Domestic scrap prices in Italy have decreased slightly this month compared to May levels. According to sources among local scrap traders, some domestic steelmakers have taken advantage of the increase in local scrap supply - caused by production hiatuses by some other steelmakers - to reduce prices slightly. According to the same sources, scrap demand is still generally good, and in general Italian steelmakers do not have large volumes of scrap in their inventories. For this reason, market sources tend to exclude the possibility of a further decline in domestic scrap prices in the coming period.
