According to market sources, after decreasing very slightly at the beginning of June, domestic scrap prices in Italy have remained stable over the past two weeks. No steel producer seems to be willing to increase its inventory levels, while scrap demand is at normal levels since some mills have resumed production, whereas others are still idle. Meanwhile, scrap availability in Italy looks good. According to sources, currently Italian steel producers are aiming to keep current purchase prices for scrap stable since they believe that their margins are adequate. As a result, no price changes are expected in the Italian domestic scrap market in the short period.
