Italian domestic scrap market continues to suffer

Compared to ten days ago, local Italian scrap prices have decreased further by €5-10/mt, after decreasing by about €20/mt in the first days of September, compared to August levels. These decreases are due to the downtrend of international scrap prices and the weak demand for finished steel products. Currently, local market sources find it difficult to foresee a trend reversal in the coming months, taking into account the maintenance works and stoppages scheduled by various Italian steel producers.
