Indian state-run steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited’s (SAIL) IISCO steel plant in Burnpur, West Bengal, is reported to have floated purchase tenders for coke products. Accordingly, the mill seeks suppliers for 10,000 mt of blast furnace (BF) grade coke (30-80 mm) and 45,000 mt of coke breeze (0-15 mm). The deadlines for bids are February 13 and February 11, respectively.

The latest official prices for local BF coke in India have been heard at INR 44,000 mt ($532/mt) ex-works, though, according to sources, the tradable levels are mostly at INR 40,000/mt ($483/mt) ex-works. “They [Indian coke suppliers] are under pressure to increase prices, but they are still not acceptable,” an Indian source commented.
