Indian scrap import prices trending up

On October 27, SteelOrbis reported ex-US scrap offers of containerized HMS I/II 80:20 to India at $295-300/mt CFR Nhava, with recent imported scrap transactions from various other countries of origin, including South and West Africa, at $275-285/mt CFR Nhava. Ex-US containerized shredded scrap offers to India were heard at $325/mt CFR Nhava.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that Indian buyers are expected to increase scrap buys in late December and January.

Imported containerized shredded prices from various regions including the UK has increased to $330/mt CFR Nhava and containerized HMS I/II 80:20 at $285-300/mt CFR Nhava.

As a result, ex-US containerized shredded offers have increased to $335-345/mt CFR Nhava and containerized HMS I/II 80:20 to $295-305/mt CFR Nhava. Shredded offers have increased $10-20/mt and HMS I/II 80:20 offers have widened $5/mt from the top of the previous range.
