Habas returns to Turkey’s ship scrap market, prices increase

Having been out of Turkey’s ship scrap market since May 10, major Turkish steelmaker Habas has returned to the market with its price level announced at $365/mt. Since SteelOrbis’ report published on August 3, two of three Izmir-based Turkish mills that have consistently remained active in ship scrap procurement, have increased their prices by $5-15/mt. As a result, the general price range is now at $360-365/mt. As sentiment in the deep sea and short sea scrap segments has changed to positive in the second half of the current week, Turkish mills are also adjusting their ship scrap quotations to secure tonnages.
