Further declines in Turkey’s local scrap market after yesterday’s drop

Friday, 17 January 2020 14:46:05 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Turkish mills’ local scrap purchase prices have continued to move down today, January 17, following yesterday’s downward revisions. Some mills have cut their prices by TRY 20-70/mt depending on the scrap grade and the steel producer, resulted in a $3-12/mt decline on US dollar basis. The key reason for the decrease in local scrap prices is the generally negative sentiment in the import segment. If the next deep sea scrap deals are concluded at a discount, the domestic scrap market is expected to see more downward revisions, SteelOrbis understands.
