On October 13, SteelOrbis reported US export scrap offers to Taiwan on HMS I/II 80:20 at $285-295/mt CFR Taiwan, an increase of $5/mt from the top of the previous week’s offers.

According to sources, ex-US offer prices on HMS I/II 80:20 are widely reported in the marketplace at $285-290/mt CFR Taiwan, but including the more aggressive offers on larger tonnage, actual offers are reportedly active at $275-290/mt CFR Taiwan. This range reflects a decrease of $10/mt from the bottom of the previous range and $5/mt from the top of the same range. HMS I/II 80:20 has been reportedly trading at $275-280/mt CFR Taiwan in the week ended October 20, a decline of $5/mt from the top of the deal range reported on the week ended October 13. A source noted the possibility of "prices to Taiwan remaining range-bound through October as export dealers are showing resistance on both US coasts, Turkish import prices may tick up, and Japanese H2 scrap, an alternative to US scrap, has retained relatively strong export prices.”
