Import scrap prices in Turkey have slightly moved up with the fresh deep sea sale disclosed to the market. According to the sources, an Iskendeun region-based mill has agreed with an American supplier for a cargo, consisting of 18,000 mt of HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at $260/mt CFR and 12,000 mt of shredded material at $265/mt CFR. The lot will be shipped in early December.

With the mentioned sale the HMS I/II 80:20 scrap from the US inched up by $1.5/mt as compared to the latest transaction on this destination. The market players are rather confused regarding the further trend in the segment as the weak finished steel demand is still a restraining factor. However, some players believe that the scrap prices might add few more US dollars in the coming deals but admit that the increase might be short-lived, SteelOrbis understands.
