Import scrap prices in Turkey have continued to go down in a new sale from Europe. An Iskenderun-based steel producer has purchased a cargo from Belgium, consisting of 30,000 mt of HMS I/II 75:25 and 10,000 mt of shredded and bonus grade at the overall average price of $279/mt CFR.

In the given deal, the price of HMS I/II 75:25 is calculated at $275/mt CFR. As a result, the HMS I/II 80:20 price is estimated by market players at around $281/mt CFR, SteelOrbis understands. Last week, the US HMS I/II 80:20 benchmark lost $4/mt and was settled at $290/mt CFR. “It seems the market is heading lower and lower and mills are getting what they have been aiming for,” a source said.
