Over the past two weeks, ex-CIS pig iron prices have remained stable at $340-360/mt FOB. According to market sources, demand in the European market for pig iron from the CIS region is weak due to the holiday season, while there is some small amount of demand for ex-CIS pig iron in Turkey and he US. Market sources state that prices of scrap and pig iron in the global market are nearly at the same levels and they expect pig iron prices to increase in short term. Meanwhile, low-manganese pig iron offers from the Baltic region to the export markets are at $380-400/mt FOB.
