On May 9, SteelOrbis reported ex-China met coke (64-65 percent CSR) offers to India at $340-343/mt CFR India or approximately $325-328/FOB China.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that prices have ticked up and are now reportedly at $344-346/mt CFR India or approximately $329-331/FOB China. In CFR terms, prices increased $4/mt from the bottom of the range and $3/mt from the top of the same range.

Sources report a recent upward price trend in May on tighter environmental policies in some areas of China. A source cautioned against the assumption of higher firm prices continuing, though, as Chinese cities such as Tangshan will likely face tighter steel production cuts which could increase domestic supplies and, therefore, dampen local prices.
