On October 20, SteelOrbis reported ex-Brazil basic steelmaking pig iron offers to the US at $345-350/mt FOB Northern Brazil, $340/mt FOB Southern Brazil, and $360-365/mt CFR US port.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that prices on basic steelmaking pig iron continue to be rangebound at $360-365/mt CFR US port. Offers from Northern Brazil are tight around $350/mt FOB while offers from Southern Brazil are reportedly at $340-345/mt FOB. A source noted that many producers were out of November and possibly even December pig iron production, and because a rebound in prices is expected in December and into the first quarter of 2018, producers are trying to resist downward adjustments on temporary market uncertainty.
