Ex-Australia coking coal prices up slightly in fresh trade

Coking coal prices in Australia have continued to rise, with both sellers and buyers remaining bullish on the back of emerging concerns over potential supply shortages. Specifically, in the latest transaction, a 75,000 mt cargo of premium mid-volatility hard coking coal (HCCA), with October 20-29 laycan, was booked at $265/mt FOB Australia, with the seller's option to replace it with another brand at $263/mt FOB. Last week, as SteelOrbis reported earlier, ex-Australia premium low-volatility coking coal (HCCLV), with October 21-30 laycan, was traded at $260/mt FOB Australia.
Apart from the transaction mentioned above, a bid for 80,000 mt of premium low-volatility hard coking coal (HCCLV), Peak Downs brand, has been heard at $263/mt FOB Australia, while another customer has been seeking to get 75,000 mt of premium mid-volatility hard coking coal (HCCA) at $263/mt FOB Australia.

Meanwhile, as of September 28,at Singapore Exchange (SGX),  ex-Australia coking coal prices for September contracts have moved sideways, increasing by $0.25/mt compared to the previous levels, to $264.25/mt, while for October contracts prices have settled at $272/mt, up $0.67/mt compared to the previous levels.
