After increasing slightly at the beginning of July, domestic scrap prices have trended sideways in Italy in the past week. Currently, demand from local mills is not particularly strong according to market sources, but it is balanced in respect to supply. Despite headwinds in the global market - with import scrap prices that have decreased in Turkey recently - domestic scrap prices should remain stable in Italy in the coming weeks, unless exceptional events occur. Local mills will stop production for two or three weeks on average during the summer holidays that usually start at the beginning of August.
