During the week ending December 11, prices in the Chinese domestic steel scrap market have followed different trends depending on regions, with price increases observed in the north of the country. Average scrap prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

In northern China, the slight rebound in steel prices as well as the tightness of scrap supplies have pushed up scrap prices by RMB 50/mt ($7.9/mt). In other regions, amid the overall lackluster demand situation, scrap prices have trended down slightly or just remained stable. As for the coming period, it is thought that scrap prices in China may just indicate slight fluctuations.
