Change of trend in Turkish ship scrap market

Having moved downwards at the beginning of the current week, the Turkish ship scrap market has changed its trend and slight increases have been recorded in prices. Two mills in Turkey’s Izmir region have increased their ship scrap purchase quotations by $5/mt as compared to Tuesday, March 23, while two producers have decided to keep their prices stable. Cebitas is still out of the market. As a result, the general range of prices in the Turkish ship scrap market is now at $380-385/mt, the same as observed on Tuesday, though more mills have set their prices at the upper end. Meanwhile, market sources state that the decreases recorded at the beginning of the week were due to the panic in the market and prices have now been adjusted to maintain a healthy scrap flow.
