An Izmir-based Turkish mill hikes its ship scrap purchase prices

The overall range of purchase prices in Turkey’s ship scrap market has remained unchanged since SteelOrbis’ last report published on November 17. However, it is also observed that an Izmir-based mill has increased its prices by $5/mt. Prices are still in the range of $475-485/mt for delivery by truck. As the Turkish lira is depreciating against the US dollar since the Central Bank’s announcement of a cut in interest rates on November 18, ship scrap purchase prices which are traditionally announced on dollar basis are maintaining their strength.
