The domestic scrap market is extremely quiet in Italy due to imminent summer stoppages that will last around 20 days on average this year. Scrap demand has progressively decreased in the past weeks, while local scrap prices have trended sideways. Looking ahead, some sources predict domestic scrap prices could rise in September, when mills resume their production and scrap demand will increase.
