Wire rod prices in Turkey pulled down further by weak demand and softer scrap prices

SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that local producers’ price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

Demand in the local Turkish wire rod market has continued to be characterized by sluggishness over the past week due to the ongoing domestic political and economic uncertainties and since working conditions has become harder amid the harsh weather conditions in Turkey. Meanwhile, another reason for the slackness of wire rod demand in the country is the heightened expectation among buyers for declines in wire rod prices due to the increased momentum in the downward movement of import scrap prices. As a result, Turkish producers have revised their prices downwards, in line with expectations.
