Turkish domestic wire rod prices have decreased by $20-85/mt to $630-670/mt ex-works over the past week. Most wire rod producers are offering mainly for late August or September delivery, while a limited tonnage is available from stocks depending on the size and quality.
Kardemir announced its 6-27 mm mesh grade wire rod price at $620/mt yesterday and succeeded in selling a small tonnage of wire rod at this price level, SteelOrbis has heard. Also, one Iskenderun-based mill has announced its wire rod price at $630/mt ex-works today. Sources report that the Iskenderun-based mill will increase its wire rod price by $10/mt to $640/mt ex-works in the afternoon today. Another mill in the region is currently not quoting wire rod prices for now.
On the demand side, trading activity is somewhat better amid most scrap suppliers are attempting to keep their prices firm, which is considered to be a positive sign. This week, most mills are attempting to either keep their wire rod prices stable or to increase them this week.
