Wire rod prices in Turkey increase amid costlier scrap

Turkish domestic wire rod prices have mostly been raised by $30-50/mt since Thursday, October 7, amid costlier scrap and rapid currency fluctuations. Limited supply is also another issue in the market.

A few mills are quoting limited tonnages for December delivery, while a few suppliers have already filled their wire rod order books for December delivery and have stopped quoting for more extended delivery periods in order to monitor the import scrap price trend for now.

One Iskenderun-based mill opened its mesh grade wire rod sales at $790/mt ex-works for December delivery at the beginning of this week and has since closed its wire rod sales as it is fully booked for December deliveries. Moreover, another mill in the same region opened its wire rod sales at $825/mt ex-works yesterday but has stopped quoting today.
