Wire Rod prices continue to weaken in the US market

Import offers for mesh quality wire rod are ranging $20.00-20.50 cwt. ($440.92-$451.95/mt) FOB loaded truck in US Gulf ports. This represents a decrease of $20/short tons ($22.05/mt) from the previous week with prices still trending downward. For industrial quality wire rod, US mill pricing is still about $25.50-$26.00 cwt. ($562-573/mt) ex works. Gerdau Ameristeel’s Beaumont, Texas plant is still down due to labor issues but is currently having a minimal effect on the market pricing.
