A source from a Brazilian exporter told SteelOrbis that $600/mt, FOB conditions, is the current reference price for the export of wire rod of the mesh grade.

The price is stable over the last week, following a small decline from a range previously reaching up to $610/mt.

According to the source, a small decline in the short term is not out of question, in order to stay in line with international prices, in the search for markets beyond Latin America or the US.

In the domestic market, wire rod of the mesh grade is sold by distributors at an estimated BRL 4,000/mt ($1,264/mt), ex works, full taxes except IPI, against BRL 3,880/mt last week.

USD = BRL 3.163 (January 29)
