A source from a Brazilian exporter told SteelOrbis that reference prices for the export of wire rod have not changed in recent weeks: $587/mt for the mesh grade and $605/mt for the drawing grade, both FOB conditions.

A price increase of 8 percent, already announced twice and subsequently suspended, could be effective as of May 1, but there is no confirmation so far, the source said.

In March, Gerdau exported wire rod in average at $473/mt and ArcelorMittal at $580/mt, both FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in January.
