Brazilian producers are negotiating wire rod of the mesh grade for export at $620/mt, FOB conditions, against $630/mt FOB last week, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.
Fresh numbers unveiled by the ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC, indicate that in March Brazil exported 28,900 mt of wire rod, with the mesh grade exported at $553/mt, while the drawing grade was exported in average at $690/mt, both FOB conditions.
The main destinations were the US (13,000 mt at $685/mt), South America (7,200 mt at $551/mt) and the Caribbean (6,800 mt at $556/mt), while 1,200 mt at $666/mt were shipped to Asia and 700 mt at $820/mt to Canada—all prices averages between mesh and drawing grade, at FOB conditions, likely negotiated in January.
The main exporters were ArcelorMittal (22,000 mt) and Gerdau (6,700 mt), while Votorantim exported 200 mt.
