Weaker cost support causes UAE rebar buyers to remain cautious

According to market sources, rebar prices in the local UAE market, which had recorded decreased in the previous two weeks, have remained stable this week at AED 2,280-2,300/mt ($621-627/mt) delivered. However, sources believe that local rebar prices in the UAE will decline further in the coming days, while demand is slack since most traders' inventories are at high levels. Meanwhile, lower transaction activity than expected has given rise to pessimism in the market.

On the other hand, Turkish mills' rebar offers to the UAE are now standing at $585-590/mt CFR on theoretical weight basis, softening by $10/mt since last week, though no deals have been concluded at these levels so far. The downtrends in prices of scrap and semi-finished steel products in the global markets have caused UAE rebar buyers to remain cautious.
