Turkish mills’ domestic merchant bar offers have moved down by TRY 30-80/mt over the past two weeks to TRY 3,050-3,280/mt ($507-546/mt) ex-works, excluding 18 percent VAT. The sluggishness in the Turkish construction sector, political uncertainties, economic problems and Ramadan continue to have an impact on the local Turkish merchant bar market. Additionally, SteelOrbis has been informed that offers lower than the above price range are heard for large tonnages in the local Turkish merchant bar market. It is also heard that sellers are trying to overcome these problems by providing flexible payment terms to trusted regular customers.
