US import wire rod prices retreat from peak

Along with global downtrends in scrap, wire rod prices are also starting to retreat from their peak. However, even though US import wire rod price are slightly lower this week, the range is still too high for serious buyer interest.

Currently, US wire rod import offers from Germany are being heard in the still-wide range of $37.00-$41.00 cwt. ($816-$904/mt or $740-$820/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, down $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) in the last week.
