US import wire rod offers continue to trend at low levels compared to US domestic wire rod spot prices, however the slightly better outlook for demand has not affected interest in imports for now, according to sources. Few expect major changes to the current import offer price levels before the end of the year, and some sources say they are looking forward to 2021, when uncertainty in the market and US economy in general “hopefully subsides.”

As such, US import wire rod offers from Germany are still ranging from $26.50-$27.50 cwt. ($584-$606/mt or $530-$550/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.
