Demand within the US import wire rod market remains muted, with fewer and fewer buyers willing to take the lead-time risk in ordering material overseas. Sources tell SteelOrbis that wire rod offers from Germany are “extremely flexible,” and that buyers can almost “name their price” if they have a serious inquiry.

As such, offer prices for US import wire rod have shifted downward this week, to $27.00-$28.00 cwt. ($595-$617/mt or $540-$560/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports from Germany, reflecting a $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt) drop from last week. Source tell SteelOrbis that offers might be available for lower on an outlier basis.
