US import wire rod offers unchanged

Although demand for wire rod in the US remains strong, buyers are reportedly largely sticking with domestic material due to still-high import offers in the range of $42.50-$44.50 cwt. ($937-$981/mt or $850-$890/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports from Germany. However, some sources say there is pressure on German mills to lower export wire rod offers, and quotes could see downticks soon.
