Demand for wire rod overall remains tepid in the US, and sources say they have not heard many new offers for US import wire rod as a result. While some sources say that uptrending prices in the US domestic wire rod market could make still-low import offers more attractive, others contend that pervasive uncertainty in the import market has left many buyers wary of making material commitments for the future.

The last-heard offers for US import wire rod from Germany ranged from $28.50-$29.00 cwt. ($628-$639/mt or $570-$580/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.
