US import wire rod market continues to face low demand

Demand for wire rod in the US, both domestic and import offerings, continues to trend substantially weak, sources say, with little movement in prices primarily due to the lack of orders.

Offer prices from Malaysia are still in the range of $28.50-$29.00 cwt. ($628-$639/mt or $570-$580/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, while offers from Germany are still being heard at $29.00-$29.50 cwt. ($639-$650/mt or $580-$590/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.
