Demand and pricing have not changed in the US import wire rod market in the last week, but sources tell SteelOrbis they are hearing “interesting” offers from a whole new source. India, which has not accounted for any US wire rod imports since 3,897 mt in May 2018, is reportedly offering to US traders again.

The prices from India are attractive compared to other offers on the market, at around $32.00-$32.50 cwt. ($705-$717/mt or $640-$650/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports. US import wire rod offers from Germany, meanwhile, are still being heard at $33.00-$35.00 cwt. ($728-$772/mt or $660-$700/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports. Malaysian offers are also reportedly steady and on par with German offers.
