US import wire rod demand still tepid

Demand and prices within the US import wire rod market has not changed in the last week, with sources continuing to report US wire buyers preferring to order product in small tonnage increments from US domestic mills to fulfill their limited supply needs. US import wire rod offers are still slightly lower than US domestic offers, but sources say “it’s not a wide enough margin” to make future-arrival orders worth it.

As such, offer prices for US import wire rod from Germany are stable week-on-week, in the range of $28.50-$29.00 cwt. ($628-$639/mt or $570-$580/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.
