US import rebar uptrend stalls

As predicted last week, US import rebar offers have not increased further this week, and though prices are stable, the overall trend is starting to point downward for some offers. US import rebar offers to Turkey are still in the range of $28.50-$29.50 cwt. ($628-$650/mt or $570-$590/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports, although some sources have heard of offers once again at the level $28.00 cwt. ($617/mt or $560/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports. By next week, it will be clear whether overall offers from Turkey are down or if the lower prices are outliers.

As for US import rebar offers from Mexico, prices are also stable this week at $28.00-$29.00 cwt. ($617-$639/mt or $560-$580/nt) DDP Houston, and sources tell SteelOrbis that Mexican offers are less vulnerable to shifting downward compared to Turkish offers.
