US import rebar market remains quiet

As the US import rebar market awaits the results of the Section 232 investigation, sources report overall quietness in terms of inquiries and orders. Without a declared importer of record, any tariffs that result from the investigation will be the responsibility of US buyers, as made clear with any current bookings. As such, US buyers are holding back from ordering, even from less-notable import sources that have not been targeted by US DOC action in the past.

However, anyone willing to take the risk and order can still find Turkish rebar in the same range as last week. Imported rebar in the US domestic market from Turkey is still available for about $25.00-$26.00 cwt. ($490-$510/nt or $540-$562/mt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.
