Sources tell SteelOrbis that US import rebar inquiry activity continues to trend “lively,” with buyers increasingly willing to bring in tonnage before the end of the year. Import buyers are reportedly “confident” the current spread between US import and domestic rebar prices will stay “more or less the same” for the remainder of the year.

The only shift in price trends is the slight inclination to firm up import offers within the existing price range, but sources say that if anything, the only impact will be fewer offers available at the low end of the offer ranges. For now, US import rebar offers remain unchanged week-on-week at $28.00-$29.00 cwt. ($617-$639/mt or $560-$580/nt) DDP Houston from Mexico, and $28.25-$29.25 cwt. ($623-$645/mt or $565-$585/nt) DDP loaded truck at US Gulf ports from Turkey.
