Turkish wire rod prices rise amid limited availability in Iskenderun

Turkey’s local wire rod prices have inched up this week partly as scrap prices remain firm, but mainly owing to the limited availability in the Iskenderun region specifically. SteelOrbis has learned that demand for welded wire mesh has gained momentum due to construction projects in Thrace.

Market sources indicate that wire demand is lively in export sales to the European Union (EU).

On the export side, most of Turkey’s wire rod offers for December production have increased by $5/mt on the upper end week on week to $445-455/mt FOB. Additionally, some Turkish mills have already stopped quoting for exports as their November-December order books are full, SteelOrbis understands.

Currently, the local offers for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

The above prices, which are on the actual weight basis, exclude 18 percent VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.
