SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that local producers' price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:
Region | Price ($/mt) | Price change ($/mt) | |
14.02.2016 | |||
Marmara | 465-475 | ↑ | 10 |
Thrace | 450-460 | ↑ | 10 |
Izmir | 455-465 | ↑ | 10 |
Iskenderun | 445-455 | ↑ | 5 |
The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, exclude VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.
After the rises recorded in domestic wire rod quotations in Turkey at the beginning of last week, prices increased by a further $5-10/mt towards the end of last week. As a result, the total price increase in the local Turkish wire rod market over the past two weeks has reached $25/mt. Market sources state that the reasons for the increase seen in the local Turkish wire rod market are the higher production costs caused by the upward movement of import scrap quotation since the beginning of February and the accelerated purchases of buyers who expect to see a further increase in wire rod prices. On the other hand, following the price rises recorded towards the end of last week, domestic wire rod prices have remained unchanged, with suppliers keeping their prices stable.
