Turkish traders and mills return from holiday with fresh rebar offers

Turkey’s rebar traders have returned to the market today, May 27, after the holiday and some of them have decided to increase their prices on Turkish lira basis slightly, while others have decided to wait before making a move. As of May 27, local rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 3,240-3,300/mt ($406-413/mt) ex-warehouse depending on the region.

Rebar prices in Turkish liras from local mill Icdas have remained unchanged at TRY 3,250/mt ex-works, while rising by only $2/mt on US dollar basis over the past week to $407/mt ex-works. In addition, another mill in the Marmara region has opened its official rebar price at TRY 3,315 ($415//mt) ex-works. One other producer from the same area has kept its rebar price at TRY 3,275/mt ($410/mt) ex-works, down by TRY 15/mt due to the currency fluctuations and stable on US dollar basis.

Izmir Demir Celik (IDC) has kept its rebar price at TRY 3,300/mt ($413/mt) ex-works, up by $2/mt on US dollar basis compared to the end of last week. Another mill in the Izmir region has been offering rebar at TRY 3,275/mt ($410/mt) ex-works, up by TRY 25/mt ($5/mt) over the same period. Sources report discounts are available for serious buyers.

In the Iskenderun region, Bastug A.S has opened its 12-32 mm rebar sales at TRY 3,320/mt ($416/mt) ex-works. A re-roller ın the same region is offering rebar at TRY 3,340/mt ($418/mt) ex-works for early June production, SteelOrbis has learned.

In the Karabuk region, Yolbulan A.S. is currently offering 12-32 mm rebar at TRY 3,280 ($411/mt) ex-works.

All prices are ex-warehouse and on actual weight basis. Prices on Turkish lira basis include 18 percent VAT, while prices on US dollar basis exclude VAT.
