Today, February 15, spot prices in the Turkish domestic rebar market have remained unchanged in the local currency, while moving up by $4-5/mt amid the appreciation of the lira against the US dollar. As of today, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey are at TRY 5,020-5,070/mt or $610-616/mt ex-warehouse depending on the region.
Icdas has increased its rebar price by TRY 10/mt to TRY 5,040/mt ($613/mt) ex-works today, up by $3/mt compared to earlier this morning. A few Marmara-based mills are currently offering rebar at TRY 5,060-5,100/mt ($615-620/mt) ex-works today.
Most mills in the Izmir region are offering rebar at TRY 4,975-5,020/mt ($605-610/mt) ex-works today.
In the Samsun region, Yesilyurt A.S. has kept its rebar sales at TRY 5,300/mt ($644/mt) ex-works for March delivery, stable on lira basis but up by $4/mt compared to Friday, February 12. In the Karabuk region, Yolbulan A.S. has opened its rebar sales at TRY 5,100/mt ($620/mt) ex-works today.
Most buyers are delaying new purchases due to the rapid currency fluctuations and the Turkish Central Bank’s interest rate decision expected on Thursday, February 18, and also due to the current silence in the import scrap market.
