Turkish rebar export prices move up sharply

Turkish rebar producers have increased their export offers by $15/mt on the lower end and by $20/mt on the upper end week on week to $465-475/mt FOB due to higher production costs resulting from the sharp rises observed in import scrap quotations.

Demand for Turkish rebar in the international markets has remained at low levels, while Turkish rebar suppliers have concluded sales for small tonnages to markets such as South America, Israel and Yemen as usual. On the other hand, some previously received orders from the European Union (EU) are expected to be canceled after the initiation of the EU’s new import quotas, market sources report.
