Over the past week, Turkish official merchant bar export prices have remained stable at $730-750/mt FOB for February-early March shipment, amid higher import scrap prices and currency fluctuations, while the SteelOrbis daily Turkish billet export CFR-based reference price is standing at $580-595/mt, versus $560-595/mt a week ago. A few merchant bar re-rollers are attempting to increase their export prices to a minimum of $750/mt FOB, SteelOrbis has heard. A few inquiries are received from the Balkan region and from parts of Europe and the target prices from the Balkans are at $735-740/mt FOB this week, SteelOrbis has heard. “We are optimistic regarding the recent discount on natural gas and electricity prices providing support for the export segment,” one source mentioned.
