In the past week, ex-Turkey merchant bar export prices have risen on average by $25/mt, mainly for September shipment, with a limited tonnage available for late August shipment, amid higher import scrap and billet prices.

Most European buyers are on their summer break, though some inquiries are still heard from the EU for the next quota round which begins on October 1. “Latin American demand is at a slow pace” one source mentioned.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Price ($/mt)

Angle

700-720

IPN-UPN

710-730

Flat bar

730-750

IPE

All prices are on FOB basis and for September shipment.
